Welcome to 2020! We hope you had a lovely Christmas break and a happy New Year.
The New Year is a good time to reflect on how things have gone over the last 12 months, choosing some positive highlights and identifying lessons to be learned for the coming year.
In this blog we are going to cover off 2019 and what changes you should be looking to make in the next few months and some professional and personal targets you can set yourself.
- IR35 – Are you prepared?
IR35 in the Public Sector saw a huge upheaval in the professional world. So, after it was announced that it would be rolled out into the Private Sector in April 2020, we knew that we would have to prepare for more change. As a New Year’s resolution, why not have a look over some of the IR35 materials that Access Talent put together to ensure you are where you need to be regarding the upcoming changes?
If you’re still worried about IR35 and feel as if you’re nowhere near prepared, our sister company, Stoneseed, are currently offering a Project IR35 package which will ensure you are properly equipped with the tools required for you to undertake the steps needed for IR35 readiness.
- Balance
Last year was filled with deadlines and decisions, moving dates and uncertainty. We are sure that there wasn’t a lot of time available to have a good work-life balance so, why not this year, make it a resolution to ensure that you give plenty more of your time to life.
Spend time with your family and friends, allow yourself to relax a little bit and spend a little more time getting back into your hobbies instead of work emails etc..
- Brexit
Brexit has been hanging around since the referendum in 2016 and last year promised deadline after deadline to no avail. However, Boris Johnson has managed to get his Brexit deal approved and set the deadline for the end of January. Either way, we all need to prepare ourselves for any potential changes.
- Try something new
As we enter the New Year, we should all endeavour to try something new! Whether it’s something in your professional space or personal, that is up to you. It could be anything from trying a new project methodology to pledging to drink 4ltrs of water a day.
- Setting goals
No doubt you had goals that you set for yourself last year – did you manage to achieve them? If not, don’t worry.
Just ensure that when you are setting personal or professional goals, you make them with the intentions of really achieving them. Don’t put them out of reach as a challenge to yourself! The feeling of achievement is a lot more satisfying than thinking you’ve failed.
Good luck with setting your New Year’s resolutions!
