All Project Managers know that the key to your dream Project Management position is self-motivation.
Keep reading for 5 tips on how to further your Project Management career the way you want to.
- Make a Plan
Having a plan of what you would like to achieve makes everything seem a little more possible. Clearly outline stages and a timeline to help you prepare for your next career move.
- Mentors and trusted colleagues
These people are a fantastic resource for you to take advantage of. Schedule some time with some trusted colleagues, explain what you’re looking to achieve and ask them for their help. Generally, experienced colleagues are more than happy to share their experience with you and provide guidance.
- Don’t be limited by others
Sometimes it can be hard to progress if your peers are not willing to give you an opportunity. However, if you know that you are capable of achieving much more than you are currently, don’t be discouraged by other people’s negativity. Stay motivated and focused on your goals.
- Develop your skills
If you know that your current role doesn’t allow for your skills to develop in the areas that you’d like, then find them outside of your role. Willingness to look to other parts of the business can help you gain experience.
- Self-motivation
This is the key to execute your plan. If you’re not willing to do more than your formal job responsibilities, you won’t be able to progress further in your Project Management career. Make sure you put the time in to take advice from others and gain more experience.
