It’s a widely known fact that at the end of most interviews, you’re going to get asked if you have any questions.
We know that these questions might sound a little obvious but when you’re put on the spot, you’re not always going to be thinking of the most intuitive thing to say!
We’ve listed just five of the many questions and why you should never ask them.
1. What does your company do?
Asking questions about what the company does or who their clients are will tell the employer that you’ve not prepared yourself for your interview. They will already expect you to know about their company which is why you’re so interested in the position you applied for, right?
2. How did I do?
Don’t put your interviewer on the spot! This could force false feedback. Wait until you have an offer or rejection, then you can email for feedback. A better question to ask would be ‘So, what are the next steps?’.
3. Can I work from home?
If you’ve applied for the job and it hasn’t been specified in the job description that you can work from home – it’s safe to say that it is not really an option at this stage. This question could also imply that you have other commitments and are not readily available for the position.
4. How much help will I get?
Asking questions like this tells the employer that you are not able to do the job by yourself! You don’t want to ruin your chances before you’ve even started.
5. Not asking any questions at all!
One of the worse things a candidate can do at this stage is not ask any questions. It shows a lack of desire and promotes desperation.
